  13. Tunisia, through the research center called IRSIT, is making effort to connect
  14. universities and number of research organisations. Today, there is three
  15. international node at IRSIT (Institut Regional des Sciences Informatiques et
  16. des Telecommunications)-Tunis -TUNISIA which are a EARN/BITNET node,X.400 mail
  17. facilities and Internet node. Users outside IRSIT are connected to IRSIT via
  18. X.25 and dial-up modem.

  23. Architecture IRSIT uses a x.25 public network to support NJE for EARN/BITNET,
  24. TCP/ip for Internet and X.400 for x400 mail facilities.

  26. Future plans connecting universities and research centers as nodes, uses a
  27. leased line and multiprotocol routers to share BITNET and INTERNET traffic.
  28. IRSIT is making effort to establish international nodes in north africa Algeria
  29. and Morocco as members of EARN, will be connected to this network, and contacts
  30. with EMI, in Morocco, and CERIST in Algeria, have been made in order to
  31. undertake the first steps toward the establishment of a research Network for
  32. the Maghreb (Maghrebnet).

  35. Telecommunications) network manager and I am in charge to develop the research
  36. and academic network in Tunisia.
